Publication date for the 1st Edition
A plethora of speculation formed within the community and the news of Sangbad launching its first ever English newspaper tabloid went viral. With all the speculation, Sangbad Australia team finally announced their official publication date to be 16th of December 2013.
The significance of 16th of December for Bangladeshi people is hard to articulate; it is the day when Bangladesh finally got to put their unique footprint on the map of the world; it is the day when Bangladeshi people got back their identity. 16th of December marked the end of a nine month long freedom fight with Pakistan in 1971. It was an agony for the people of Bangladesh and it was bloody. 3 million people gave their lives to free Bangladesh from the Pakistani regime and 16th of December it was all paid back with the demise of Pak military invasion.
16th December is a day of glory for all Bangladeshi; it is the Victory Day of Bangladesh. There couldn’t be any better day to publish the 1st edition of Sangbad Australia than this very special day. Sangbad is dedicated to the Bangladeshi community and this date always takes us back to the very root of our existence. Sangbad Australia will strive to connect people from the broader communities of Australia of Bangladeshi community.
We believe our young people are very important and they deserve to be well informed about important matters in the community. Since our initiative is in English, we believe this will close the gap between older Bangladeshi immigrants and the young people of our community as well as all other Australian communities. We aim to include the followings in each edition:
1. Introducing a successful person from the community
2. A story on a successful business
3. Reporting on all community programs and events
4. International and local news relevant to young people, the Bangladeshi community and the broader public.
Sangbad Australia has a vibrant committee of consultants (as volunteer) without who the publication wouldn’t have been possible. The members come from different walks of life with highly developed expertise in the field of human rights, advocacy and public relations. The Sangbad team consists of members from both within and outside of the Bangladeshi community – doing so was important not only to ensure the integrity of the paper but also to ensure that we are fulfilling our goal of bridging the gap between the Bangladeshi and broader Australian community. The makeup of the team puts Sangbad Australia in a unique position amongst other newspaper in the community and it is committed to deliver to that extent.
