Rockdale celebrates Australia Day

Rockdale City Council will celebrate Australia Day with an exciting community festival at Peter Depena Reserve in Dolls Point on Sunday 26 January from 8.15am . Award winning producer and presenter Greg Grainer who is the Australia Day Ambassador for Rockdale City will also be there.

The Australia Day celebration starts at 8.15am with a Welcome to Country by Koomurri Australia and includes an official Australia Day National Flag Raising and Citizenship Ceremony.

The Mayor Shane O’Brien will conduct the Australian Citizenship Ceremony and welcome Rockdale’s newest Australian citizens as well as present the Rockdale Citizen of the Year awards.

Entertainment runs from 10am — 1pm and includes the fabulous party band Peppermint Jam and children’s activities.

The free Community Sausage Sizzle runs from 9.45am until the sausages run out.

There will also be a lot of free fun for kids including a Cartoon Show, Drumming Workshop, free face painting and lamington workshop.

Rockdale Community Nursery and Council’s Mobile Waste Education Unit will be on display.
