Bangladesh Society of Sydney had commemorated Ekushe February (21st February) AKA the International Mother Language Day on last Sunday the 23rd of February at Rockdale Bangala School hall with community members around Rockdale and Kogarah areas and with all the students from the Bangla School. The mayor of Rockdale city council Hon. Shane O’Brien and Magician M. A Jalil were among the distinguished guests to attend the commemoration program.
The program was set in four sections, (i) drawing competition between all the students from the Rockdale Bangla School (ii) discussion on the importance of 21st February (iii) prize ceremony to the winner of the drawing competitions held on the same day and by the winner from the 15th December, 2013 Victory day program (iv) cultural program and magic show performed by magician M. A. Jalil.
President of BDSS Dr. Manjurul Haque, The mayor of Rockdale city council Hon. Shane O’Brien, executive members of BDSS Najmul Huda, Major Shafique Selim, and Lecturer Afsana Nilkis took part in the discussion session where they discussed about the importance of 21st February (Ekushe February) and the great sacrifice which was made by Salam, Barkat, Rafique, Jabbar, Sofiur and many more bravest sons of Bangladesh.
